Part one of 1, complete
Length (story only) 392 words.
Jay stood at the edge of the forest, breathing in the air. He let himself relax as the myriad amounts of life smells tickled his Tiger’s senses. The bugs and worms in the earth, the faint sent of wolf, the musk of the gryphons who had just passed this way on patrol.
He began to move, his paws making very little din as he moved, making the undergrowth rustle as he past through it on his way to his favorite running spot. As much as he loved Del, this was his time today, his time to take a bath in the forest and its beauty, to craft a new memory to add to the already growing picture in his mind, the forever map he would take with him through lives.
He glanced up as he went, realizing that the silver sheen the wood here was known for was coming back with noticeable regularity…and with a seeming vengeance that contradicted the length of time since its restoration. Had it really only been a month? It seemed like so long ago.
He took his time on his way around the trail at first, relaxing into his tiger form as he got more and more used to his heightened senses again, the sounds of the birds, the wolves howling in the distance, the happy sounds of Gryflets playing on the caves at the edges of the forest. He slowly increased his speed as he went, winding through just emerging saplings with the trademark silver sheen now visible to the naked eye. This was good, he thought, adding this to his memory picture of the day.
He was now at a full out run, causing some of the larger wildlife to spring away as he passed, startled cries bursting from throats as he streaked past them. A deer shrilled in protest as he past. Even some of the smaller creatures became disturbed. squirrels chattered angrily, birds shrieked alarm, and a wolf barked testily. It was all he could do not to be amused at the cries he left behind him. He was about to be very hungry, though, and hunting wasn’t allowed here; he would half to go elsewhere soon. Not just yet, though, he was having too much fun reveling in the sensations that filled his body with a richness he had very nearly forgotten.
